Throughout history it seems everything changes. From transportation, to clothing, to society itself. The one thing that's always been the same, no matter what part of the world you're in, stoners are stoners. We are all in the same state of mind. We aren't burn outs. I hate the stereotype that comes with smoking marijuana. Most of us still keep full time jobs. Most of us still have families to take care of. Most of us are not lazy at all. We all have moments I'm sure, but most of us are quite intelligent.
I, being a Mom, and being in my twenties, I use Medical Marijuana for Depression/Anxiety, to sleep at night, and to help with the Scoliosis in my back. (Scoliosis is where your spine twists and bends as you grow.) I also used Cannabis when I was pregnant and having horrible morning sickness. (I don't know why it's called "morning" sickness, it was all day/all night sickness!) I believe it also helped with the horrible raging pregnancy hormones as well. And I will happily report that both my kids came out 100% healthy, for those of you that have something negative to say about using marijuana while pregnant. My girls are four years and two and a half years old and my oldest has known how to speak Spanish and some Japanese since she was two. My youngest knew even more even earlier than my oldest because she learned so much because she had an older sibling teaching her as well. My oldest currently knows how to write and spell her name, and my youngest says big words like "impossible" and "especially." They are super smart. My point is, marijuana did not hinder them in any way.
I have been consuming cannabis off and on for five years now, and I can't see how it hasn't helped me! I'm out of pain, I feel happier than ever, and the anxiousness is minimal. Without it my life would be a bit crazy.
So yeah, I'm a stoner. I'm not dense. I don't crave a harsher drug because I consume marijuana. Marijuana is NOT a "gateway drug." I have never smoked some bud and then wanted to do meth! The only gateway I can think of that marijuana starts is maybe a gateway to your fridge! A gateway to creativity, a gateway to open your mind to what's real and true.
Guess what friends?! Cannabis has now been proven to help lose weight. I am proof. When my husband and I moved here, (to Colorado Springs from Indiana.) April 2014 I weighed 165 pounds at 5'5. Now I weigh 115 pounds. Here's what I did, I smoked a good sativa, (I recommend if you're near the Springs you go to Biomeds and get the strain called Carnival, it's such an upper, it makes you super ready for anything and it makes you happy.) ...then worked out for a good hour to hour and a half only skipping exercise once or twice a week and I ate healthier but still drank sodas and ate munchies just like always. I lost 50 pounds over a three month span. I had tried everything else that I mentioned but without marijuana and results never seemed to come. Maybe cannabis increases your metabolism??? I'm not sure because I'm no professional scientist or anything, I'm just a writer. But rest assured I will be doing my research so look for that in a later blog.
In the spirit of stoners throughout history... Lets take a look at some famous people throughout history who were stoners or thought to be.
Presently we have Miley Cyrus. In her early twenties in an in depth interview with "rolling Stone Magazine" the former Disney Channel star on the ever so popular show called "Hannah Montana" is all grown up and making her own decisions. Including telling them all about her marijuana use. Miley reportedly told the cutting edge magazine, "Weed is the best drug on earth," and "other substances like Cocaine or MDMA(also known as Molly) don't really hold a candle to marijuana."
Seth Rogen is a very avid and open pot smoker. He started out performing stand up comedy around Vancouver, and eventually met Judd Apatow, who would later cast him in "freaks and Geeks." In 2008, Rogen and Evan Goldberg co-wrote the stoner comedy, "Pineapple Express" that starred Rogen as a process server, and his pot dealer, James Franco. This is personally one of my favorite movies and one of my favorite strains that my favorite dispensary (Biomeds) in the Springs sells is called "Pineapple Express." Seth Rogen is also a member of the National Organization for Reform Law of Marijuana (NORML) as stated from therichest.com.
Dave Chappelle admits to smoking marijuana early in his career, specifically around the time he co-wrote the famous stoner movie about three ganja-loving besties who start selling weed to get their homie out of jail. In his early stand-up special, "Killing Them Softly" from 1999, Dave tells a classic story about buying weed from a baby. His first special featured a bunch of jokes about himself and others smoking weed as well. He later stated on "Inside the Actors Studio" that he had stopped smoking. However, his second special, "For What It's Worth" contained even more mary jane stories. I think it's safe to say he smokes.
Now lets go back a ways to one of my favorite men in history... William Shakespeare was a 16th century English playwright, who is widely considered to be one of the greatest, if not THE greatest dramatists of all time. His plays such as "Romeo and Juliet," "Hamlet," and "King Lear," are still adapted, performed, and swooned over even today. Researchers say they found traces of cannabis on clay pipes uncovered in the garden of Shakespeares home in Stratford-upon-Avon. Shakespeare also wrote about a "noted weed" in one of his sonnets. I think we can all guess what he was talking about... Shakespeare also penned "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "Othello," and "MacBeth," so if a little bit of ganja helped him out, then so be it!
George Washington was a general who led the thirteen American colonies in their fight for independence from Britain. After successfully helping America become an independent country, Washington was chosen to be the first President of the United States of America. In addition to his war and presidential duties, Washington was also a tobacco farmer. He also cultivated hemp on his Mount Vernon farm--it was his primary crop in 1797. Washington was even interested in the medicinal properties of cannabis, making diary entries that showed he was growing varietals with high THC content. Wish we could have picked his brain a little more now huh?!
The greek historian Herodotus reports that the Scythians, a nomadic people of ancient times, used weed in ceremonies celebrating fallen leaders. After constructing makeshift tents from sticks and animal skins, the Scythians would light up oodles of marijuana inside the tent, creating a hotbox effect, designed to cleanse all those who entered. So hotboxing was even a thing WAY back in the day! See! Stoners really don't change. Stay tuned for my next blog which will be out probably next Friday. Here's a hint...More about STONERS!!!!!
